Hey thanks for dropping by.
Just to quickly clarify, in your title you mention animation but you did not mention it in your text. Is this an important factor for you?
I personally started 3D from almost no creative background, so someone with a graphic design background can absolutely start 3D work.
There is definitely a steep learning curve for someone new, but it is incredibly rewarding once you master it.
However, with your knowledge in branding, if you decide to learn 3D you can open the doors to not only Arch-vis, but product shots for brands. The fundamentals for 3D modelling and rendering are pretty similar and can all be done within one 3D package (like Blender). I’ve done work for arch-vis companies and adverts for branded products all from Blender.
Also, there is definitely enough demand for 3D work too. It is competitive, but if you do a good job for a company, they will more than likely use you for repeat business. Use freelancer websites to get customers and then the idea is to pull them away from these websites and build long lasting relationships with them.
I see a lot of people who get comfortable with their 3D skills and never look to improve. This is an incredibly fast past industry and you should always be willing to strive to become better than everyone else, or you’ll get left behind.
What intersts you in Arch-Vis? Have you given it a try yourself?
